“Designed with, not for”, by Sam Julka, Founder at DORIS

When people or stakeholders—who will ultimately use design outcomes—are engaged and designed ‘with’ instead of ‘for’ we always end with a more successful design outcome. When it comes to designing office spaces, the old model has always been to engage a small group of leaders within an organization and find out what they think is best for the organization and design around their direction. This can lead to poorly designed office spaces based on the opinions of a few people who often are not in touch with the day-to-day work styles of individual contributors within an organization.  This talk will focus on leveraging the power of large stakeholder groups, using Design Research to find the best solutions for designing a new office space ‘with’ the people that will work within it’s walls each day.
